MERCEDES OEM CL500 CL55 S430 S500 S600 S55 DOOR LOCKING VACUUM PUMP 00-06. This pump is in Excellent Condition this pump had been recently replaced. It is Very Clean inside and out. All the air lines are labled showing someone had been working in the area.
It was pulled from a CL500 (05/12/2023). THE PSE CONTROL MODULE MUST BE PROGRAMMED TO KNOW WHAT YOU HAVE IN YOUR CAR. This is very, very, very important.
The same PSE pump model is used on multiple Benz body styles, and even on the same body style not every car has all of the same options. If it is not programmed (via STAR) it will cause it to run much longer than necessary and will burn up the motor!!!
Also without programming some options in your car may not work properly. One common option is Trunk Assist Soft Close. This will not work if not programmed.
I've picked up that many people have concerns about programming these pumps. Others are unsure if programming is fully necessary.I'm going to try and address the second issue first. First thought that comes to mind. Is it possible to find a pump from a donor that has the same programming as yours? The is many parts that need to be programmed. For example Transmission Control Modules.
(TCM) these if you get a module with a matching part numbers from the same module It's almost 100% that it has the same programming, but having two of the same year and model. Is not a guaranteed the parts are interchangeable.
Mercedes many parts the changed in the middle of a run. These pumps are used in so many different models with different options. It's difficult to find the a pump that will work without being programed. Because I was getting a 50% failure rate. These would fail in a couple of ways some worked for the most part, but part of it didn't work for examp the headrests. Some pumps would work for a couple of days and completely stop working. If I had another ppm I'd replace.
There is one thing these pumps can do that I haven't seen other parts do. How the pump was programed sometimes was not compatible with the car.
But the pump motor would not stop. And after a day of two they get to hot it would melt holses in the case and the solder off the board. Since pushing programming the pumps (Knock On Wood) I haven't had a pump fail.
Now gettieng the pump programmed. First I start looking on craigslist.
For some reason I've seen different retired Mercedes mechanics advertising to help DIYers. Next I'd find a independent mercedes shop. Try to go there when they are not packed with customers and ask them. If you got this far THANK YOU FOR READING THIS.
